Source Claims Queen Camilla ‘Limits’ Prince Harry’s Contact With King Charles
Prince Harry’s relationship with the Royal Family has remained strained since he and Meghan Markle stepped away from royal duties and relocated to California. While Harry has said the move was meant to protect Meghan from intense media pressure and to avoid repeating the pain his late mother, Princess Diana, endured, the couple did not retreat from public attention.
Instead, Harry and Meghan openly discussed royal life in interviews, documentaries, and Harry’s memoir Spare. In the book, Harry shared his complicated feelings toward his stepmother, Queen Camilla, describing their early interactions as “awkward and tense.” He also revealed that both he and Prince William had long-standing doubts about her role in their family.
According to palace sources quoted by royal biographer Penny Junor, neither William nor Harry found it easy to accept Camilla at first. While Camilla never tried to replace their mother, her presence in King Charles’s life was difficult for them, especially in the early years.
Over time, Prince William’s relationship with Camilla reportedly improved, and the two are now said to be on good terms. However, Harry’s relationship with her remains distant and strained.
Royal author Tina Brown wrote in The Palace Papers that Harry made Camilla uncomfortable during their early interactions, often remaining silent and appearing resentful. Brown has stated that while William eventually accepted Camilla for his father’s sake, Harry has struggled to make peace with her role and her becoming Queen.
Tensions reportedly resurfaced after King Charles’s cancer diagnosis. Harry briefly returned to the UK to see his father, but sources claimed Camilla was unhappy about the visit, especially since it allegedly occurred without prior palace approval. Reports suggest Harry asked to speak to his father privately, which reportedly upset Camilla.
Harry’s critical remarks about Camilla in Spare are also said to have deeply angered King Charles. Royal experts claim that Charles is particularly sensitive when it comes to criticism of his wife, and this has further damaged his relationship with Harry.
Since Charles’s illness, Camilla has taken on more royal responsibilities and is said to be protective of her husband’s health. According to reports, she believes contact with Harry could cause unnecessary stress and has therefore tried to limit their interactions.
While rumors and reports continue to circulate, it remains unclear whether relations between Prince Harry and the rest of the Royal Family will improve in the future.
