Maxwell Returns to Prison With Mystery Box After Trump DOJ Meeting

Ghislaine Maxwell, the former girlfriend of the late Jeffrey Epstein, who was found guilty of facilitating the procurement of underage girls for him and others, returned to the Florida prison where she is serving her sentence while carrying a “mystery box.”

CNN’s Erin Burnett highlighted this unusual event during a segment on Thursday, presenting a clip of Maxwell holding the box as she entered the prison after what was reportedly a meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

Another individual shared a clearer image of a person believed to be Maxwell holding a box while a guard opens a door for her.

“Today, I met with Ghislaine Maxwell, and I will continue my interview of her tomorrow,” Blanche stated in a social media update. “The Department of Justice will provide further details about our findings at the appropriate time.”

According to CNN, Blanche indicated that he would meet with Maxwell again on Friday. The meeting took place at the US attorney’s office in Tallahassee, Florida, as reported by the outlet.

Maxwell’s attorney, David Oscar Markus, described her meeting with Blanche as “productive,” noting that she responded to all of his inquiries “honestly.”

“I am looking forward to another productive day,” Markus informed CNN on Thursday evening. “Ghislaine answered every question posed by Mr. Blanche with honesty. She will continue to do so.”

These meetings follow the recent outreach by the Department of Justice to Epstein’s former associate. Blanche remarked in a statement on Tuesday that if “Ghislaine Maxwell possesses information regarding anyone who has perpetrated crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ are prepared to listen to her.”

Additionally, these meetings occur after President Trump directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to disclose any relevant information concerning Epstein, following significant criticism from his MAGA supporters regarding a Justice Department memo released earlier this month, which claimed there was no “client list” and that no further information about his crimes would be available.

Democrats have speculated — without substantiation — that the decision to effectively close the case arises from a belief that Trump is implicated in the files. This week, news reports echoed similar claims, even asserting that DOJ officials had informed Trump of this during meetings in the spring.

However, the president’s supporters have argued that if Trump were indeed involved in some of Epstein’s alleged crimes against underage girls, such information would have been leaked long ago.

Additionally, they point out that Trump’s previous association with Epstein is publicly documented, noting that Trump expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in the early 2000s and ceased all contact with him upon learning that the financier was inappropriately engaging with young girls.

“The reality is that the president removed him from his club for being a creep,” stated White House Communications Director Steven Cheung.

In an unexpected development on Wednesday, the House Oversight subcommittee voted to issue a subpoena to the Justice Department for files pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein—a clear act of defiance by certain House Republicans against Speaker Mike Johnson.

Johnson has attempted to curb efforts to compel the release of the so-called Epstein files and has resisted demands for a full House vote on the issue prior to the August recess.

The subpoena requires the Justice Department to provide its Epstein-related files to Congress, with the names of victims redacted. It also seeks communications between former Biden administration officials and the DOJ concerning the Epstein case, as well as depositions from key individuals, including Bill and Hillary Clinton and former FBI Director James Comey.

Last week, the Justice Department asked a federal judge to unseal long-standing grand jury testimony against Epstein. However, on Wednesday, a federal judge in Florida declined to release further grand jury materials.
