MAGA Ally Tim Burchett Interested In Marsha Blackburn’s Senate Seat
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), a strong supporter of President Trump and the MAGA movement, has indicated his desire to be considered for Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s (R-TN) position should she decide to leave it.
Blackburn revealed on Wednesday her intention to run for governor of Tennessee in 2026, a campaign that would necessitate her relinquishing her Senate seat if she is successful. She was re-elected to the Senate in November of last year.

Burchett, a former mayor of Knox County who secured his fourth term in Congress last year, is recognized for his friendly and humorous demeanor in the House. In social media videos that update constituents on legislative issues, he is frequently seen greeting political figures, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and fellow Republicans, while walking down the steps of the Capitol.
Burchett had also considered a gubernatorial run; however, Blackburn’s entry into the race would likely overshadow his candidacy. Should she win and succeed Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN), Blackburn would be obligated to appoint a temporary replacement for her Senate seat prior to a special election—a position that could potentially be filled by Burchett.
In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Burchett affirmed his interest in the Senate seat.
“My focus is on the second congressional district as a congressman, and nothing takes me away from that,” he stated to the outlet. “I dedicate a significant amount of time attending meetings in my district. So yes, that is my primary focus, of course. However, if I were presented with that opportunity, I would certainly accept it.”
He stressed that it is “very premature” to imply that he is pursuing the appointment, pointing out that Blackburn must still win both the primary and general elections. Burchett refrained from commenting on the possibility of running for the Senate in 2030.
“It’s very premature, but if I were asked, I would certainly welcome that opportunity,” Burchett remarked.
Burchett expressed gratitude to his supporters on social media for suggesting he would be a suitable candidate to succeed Blackburn in her Senate seat.
Earlier on Wednesday, Blackburn declared her candidacy for governor.
“It’s official! I’m running for Governor to ensure Tennessee is America’s conservative leader for this generation and the next,” she announced on social media.
Last week, the Tennessee Republicans disclosed that he had recently been kicked by a horse, resulting in a fractured rib.
“Since many are inquiring, here’s the situation: On Sunday, I was kicked by a horse,” Burchett shared on social media. “I broke a rib. The horse didn’t appreciate being bitten by that horsefly, and my rib was the collateral damage.”
This incident did not prevent him from traveling over three hours the following day, where he attended several events and returned to his farm after 2 a.m. The next morning, he was awake by 6 a.m. and back on the road to Campbell County for additional events.
“It’s going to take more than a broken rib to hinder my progress,” Burchett stated. “I truly appreciate everyone’s concern and prayers for a swift recovery. Please pray for our country.”
Burchett also shared multiple videos from the road, depicting him on his feet and engaging with constituents.
