Scott Adams, the 67-year-old creator of the comic strip Dilbert, has revealed that he is suffering from a severe and aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. In a deeply emotional livestream on his show Coffee with Scott Adams, he disclosed that his condition is terminal, saying, “My life expectancy is maybe this summer,” and describing his daily life as a “nightmare.”
Adams shared that he experiences continuous pain and that even moving around requires the use of a walker. He emphasized the gravity of his situation by saying, “I don’t have good days,” and noted that his evenings are especially difficult. The illness has dramatically impacted his quality of life, making each day physically and emotionally challenging.
His announcement came around the same time as news broke that U.S. President Joe Biden has also been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Adams mentioned that he had been diagnosed before Biden, though he speculated that Biden may have been aware of his diagnosis earlier than publicly announced. He noted the unusual coincidence of both of them having the same rare and fast-moving type of cancer.

Scott Adams rose to fame in the 1990s with Dilbert, a comic strip that humorously critiques office culture and corporate absurdities. At its peak, Dilbert appeared in over 2,000 newspapers worldwide. However, Adams’ career took a controversial turn in 2023 when he made racially charged remarks during one of his broadcasts. The backlash was swift, and many newspapers and platforms discontinued their syndication of Dilbert.
Despite his health condition and public controversies, Adams continues to communicate with his audience through his online platforms. He has stated that he wants to be open about his battle with cancer, both to document his experience and to correct any misinformation about his condition.
