A tragic accident involving a van and a truck transformed
Tuesday night (13) into a scene of sorrow on BR-251, in Grão Mogol, located in the North of Minas Gerais.
Nine individuals lost their lives, and an additional 12 sustained injuries in a head-on collision that has left the nation in shock and prompted the mobilization of rescue, forensic, and investigative teams.
Currently, authorities are working to determine the cause of the collision and whether it could have been prevented.
Expert opinion confirms that the truck entered the wrong lane. Initial analyses conducted by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) suggest that the truck involved in the incident crossed into the opposite lane of the highway, resulting in a direct collision with the van that was transporting workers returning to Ceara.
“This was a crucial factor,” stated expert Hugo Leonardo. According to the experts, tire marks, drag marks, and grooves in the asphalt were essential to this conclusion.
